Short story- What if I tell you

What if I tell you that, “when you start giggling, it sounds the same as a sound tractor makes when it starts, no no don’t get angry because that sound makes the ‘Mr. Always grumpy me’ laugh.…”

What if I tell you that “when you snore at night, it makes me feel I am not alone, those anxiety full nights of mine had a hint of assurance that you are with me…

What if I tell you that “when you smile the sparkles of your eyes make my ‘dull life’ bright and sparkly…”

What if I tell you that “yes, I didn’t listen to your rant about your colleague, who had done something terrible to upset you as I was too busy looking at you while you and your eyes were speaking…...”

What if I tell you that “when you used to hold my hand and say ‘it’s okay’, it does become okay”

What if I tell you that “I don’t hate butterscotch flavored ice cream, I said so because you hate it

What if I tell you “I have no issues with texting but I like listening to your voice more...”

What if I tell you that “the cheese sandwiches you made for me was burnt from the bottom but I loved it because you made it for me…..”

What if I tell you that “going on one knee and proposing in front of the crowd was never my thing but your favorite couple had done it, so I had decided I will do it too !!!!

What if I tell you that “when you used to hug me, I used to find my lost inner peace……”

What if I tell you “I was not trying to avoid you, I know I just got busy, maybe a little selfish but I was doing this to secure our future….

What if I tell you that “I know, I used to hurt you a lot when I canceled our dinner date due to the stupid office parties and always remain engrossed in my laptop and files but I thought things will be better once I get succeeded here….”

What if I tell you that “the last one year you spent crying, begging for my time and attention didn’t affect me much as the promotion was my priority that time., I don’t know where do you find so much patience to bear my ignorance and ruthlessness for so long”

What if I tell you “I cried in the bathroom like you used to do, on the day when you moved out and we broke up !!!”

What if I tell you that “the so-called ‘important promotion’ became meaningless without you as there was no one to share my happiness with. I was all alone and all of the sudden the days were gloomy and nights were full of anxiety again…”

What if I tell you “since that day I asked only for your forgiveness from God !!”

What if I tell you that ” I miss you so much !!!

What if I tell you that “seeing your name with some other guy on your wedding card is killing me right now !!!! “

What if I tell you that “I don’t know why I am still writing this or getting ready to attend your wedding, maybe the greed of seeing you have taken over my mind, in the same way like these ‘what if’ questions has taken over my heart!!!

  2. This is so good! It tells a romantic story that would usually take lots of chapters to complete and turned it into one tour in a couple paragraphs. Well done!❀️❀️

  7. Wow, Vani, this is powerful! The transitions from love and hope to dismissiveness to moving on took me by surprise & made my heart sad. You have a talent for communicating painful emotions in a very beautiful manner. Have a great week, my friend! 🌞
